HELP BLONDES, BRUNETTES, TACKLE ALZHEIMER'S AT CHARITY FOOTBALL MATCH
Here's one football game that's definitely for a good cause ... and one you know will have an (ahem) hair-raising conclusion.
The BvB Dallas Powder-Puff Football Game in the Cotton Bowl Stadium on Aug. 12 aims to raise $3 million for Alzheimer's research and awareness. Come (ahem) root for either the blondes or brunettes, or come to the after-party, taking place on the stadium's steps.

The New Play Festival: SouthSide Stories
SOUL REP'S NEW-PLAY FESTIVAL TO FEATURE "SOUTH SIDE STORIES"
This rich, insight-producing festival offers plays this year inspired by the history, myths, folk heroes, and present-day happenings of the South Dallas community. It also taps into the "theater of the oppressed" techniques used by Brazilian author and director, Augusto Boal.
The plays are 10 minutes long, packed with emotion, and presented through the talents inherent in 15 local actors. South Dallas Cultural Center, Aug. 3-6 and Aug. 11-13.

Latin-American singer-songwriters to perform in the Music Hall at Fair Park
Lupillo Rivera and Shaila Dúrcal
It's a Latin-music fiesta this month at Fair Park! Grammy Award winner Lupillo Rivera will take the stage of the Music Hall at Fair Park the evening of Aug. 12. Also performing will be Shaila Dúrcal, a Latin Grammy Award-nominated singer-songwriter who is also the daughter of Latin Grammy Award winner Rocío Dúrcal.

Preceding the concerts (beginning at 5 p.m.) will be a job fair in the Music Hall's lobby. The event is presented by Cracker Barrel Old Country Store.

Butterfly Tea Party
BUTTERFLIES ARE FREE (TO FLY) AT THE TEXAS DISCOVERY GARDENS' TEA PARTY
Tea. Snacks. "Fancy activities" and crafts. Who could ask for anything more?
But wait, there IS more when the Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park hosts a Butterfly Tea Party Aug. 24 in celebration of the book "Bonjour Butterfly" by Jane O'Connor.
At the end of this unique tea party, participants will enjoy an eye-popping release of the garden's butterfly population.

Lady Antebellum
LADY ANTEBELLUM NEEDS YOU NOW TO ATTEND THEIR STARPLEX CONCERT
The 'You Look Good Tour' is the fifth headlining concert tour fronted by the Grammy Award-winning country-music trio, Lady Antebellum. The tour is in support of "Heart Break," their seventh studio album.
With opening acts Kelsea Ballerini and Brett Young, Lady Antebellum performs Aug. 26 at Starplex Pavilion.

AT FAIR PARK, BACK-TO-SCHOOL IS FOR BIG KIDS, TOO
Later this month, school doors and laptops will open once again for learning. In his August update, Daniel Huerta, the City of Dallas' Executive General Manager for Fair Park, offers insights into the 2017 Mayor's Back to School Fair that Fair Park will host.

However, learning is for adults as well. So, he also discusses learning opportunities adults can access at Fair Park, as well as the educational events and programs for adults that several Fair Park organizations will offer in August.
