THE STATE FAIR OF TEXAS IS NO SPECTATOR SPORT
Jigglin' your gray matter on the Midway's Flipper or Wave Swing. Slidin' behind the wheel of a sedan inside the Automobile Building. Spillin' soda on the person next to you as you cheer on your favorite football team. Or, pedalin' a swan boat across the Leonhardt Lagoon.
Sure, strolling the fairgrounds and watching all your fellow Texans at play can be fun. But more than anything else, the State Fair of Texas is all about DOIN' stuff.

TWO, FOUR, SIX, EIGHT. IT'S FOOTBALL WE APPRECIATE!
Did you know Fair Park is the site each year of some Tigers wrasslin' with some mean ol' Panthers? If you attended Prairie View A&M or Grambling State University, your answer is likely, 'Puhleeze.' The Southwest Airlines State Fair Classic may be the only college football game in America where people recall the halftime band performances more easily than the final score. Cotton Bowl Stadium. Sat., Oct. 7, 4 p.m.
Some call it the OU/Texas game. Others refer to it as the Texas/OU game. Either way, this year's AT&T Red River Showdown is sure to turn people's hair burnt orange ... or crimson red. Or both. Cotton Bowl Stadium. Sat., Oct. 14. Kickoff time TBA.
