WRR Classical 101.1 FM is the only commercial station in Texas that plays classical music 24 hours a day. And no other radio station in the country has been owned longer by the same owner (the City of Dallas) than WRR has.
Although the station is owned by the City of Dallas, it is funded NOT by city tax dollars but by advertising revenue.
Founded in 1921, WRR was the first licensed broadcast station in Texas and one of the nation's five inaugural stations. Its operations came to Fair Park in the late 1930s and it joined the FM spectrum in 1948.
You’ll find the WRR FM-101 broadcast center just off Martin Luther King Blvd., between the Texas Discovery Gardens and the Texas Star Ferris wheel.
