Dallas Summer Musicals (lovingly known as DSM) is the preeminent non-profit presenter of Broadway theater in North Texas.
DSM produces, presents and promotes live musical theater year-round. It also provides extensive community outreach programs to entertain, educate, and empower young people in the world of theater.
Dallas Summer Musicals began in 1941 as Opera Under the Stars in Fair Park's Band Shell. Eventually, it changed its name to Starlight Operettas.
After ten years in the Band Shell, Starlight Operettas moved inside the newly air conditioned Music Hall and took on a new name: the State Fair Musicals. In 1962, the Summer Musicals separated from the State Fair of Texas becoming an autonomous civic organization called Dallas Summer Musicals (DSM).
