August signals the end of road trips, late morning sleep-ins and lazy days at the pool. This month students are sharpening their pencils, getting fitted for new school clothes, uniforms and buying new backpacks. It's back to school for students.
The Mayor's Back to School Fair, August 4, 2017, is an annual event at Fair Park that helps thousands of children get prepared for the start of the school year. As children and teens get ready to begin their school year, adults too can find a variety of educational opportunities at Fair Park.
History enthusiasts can attend the Hall of State Brown Bag Lecture Series, on the second Tuesday of each month, March through September. It is free and open to the public. The lectures center on historical events, book reviews, and other related topics. Attendees are invited to bring their own bag lunch while enjoying the series. Get additional information.
Texas Discovery Gardens at Fair Park offers information on butterfly gardens and adults can add a certified Butterfly Habitat to their own backyard. More information can be found here.
If researching archives is of interest, you may want to visit the African American Museum. The museum also provides lectures and exhibitions throughout the year.
We offer a variety of both fun and educational experiences for children, youth, and adults all year long. Summer is quickly ending but at Fair Park exciting activities and events will continue. We hope to see you here soon.
