Creative Arts Building

A real, blue-ribbon winner...

UNDERSCORING THE UNLIMITED CREATIVITY OF TEXANS

Perfect preserves. Quaint quilts. Wonderful woodworking.

Visitors to the State Fair of Texas find all of these, and more, in the Creative Arts Building. In fact, they find on display here the blue-ribbon winners (and their runners-up) from across the state in such categories as:

  • needlepoint
  • photography
  • chocolate recipes
  • cheese concoctions
  • and good ol' chili, among many other categories

Built in 1936 as part of the Texas Centennial Exhibition, the building previously bore the name of the Foods Building. It offers 17,000 square feet of exhibition space and a 250-seat theater.

The Creative Arts Building is also the home for many cooking demonstrations.

WHERE IS IT?

Along Nimitz Avenue, next to the Embarcadero Building.
