Executive Director Job Description

Friends of Fair Park is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote Fair Park's year-round use, support Fair Park's museums, preserve Fair Park's buildings, art, sculpture and related artifacts of the 1936 Texas Centennial, and thoughtfully plan for Fair Park's future.

The Executive Director is hired by and reports to Executive Board of Directors for FFP.

Duties:

  • Represent FFP to the community
  • Actively Fundraise to support the Mission
  • Monitor all City Hall activities affecting Fair Park
  • Propose to the Board of Directors policies and major program ideas
  • Implement or assist Board committees in implementing, approved policies and programs, including arranging for the necessary administrative and clerical support
  • Oversee accuracy and quality of all communications distributed by FFP
  • Determine needs for additional staff and budget for that need
  • Work with Nominating and Board Development committee to continuously enhance Board
  • Organize Board and Executive Committee meetings
  • Oversee quality of preservation work in Fair Park
  • Coordinate liaison work with museum community
  • Ultimate fiscal responsibility for FFP
  • Ultimate personnel responsibility for FFP
  • Attend relevant events and meetings as FFP representative
  • Flexible time commitment required
  • Determine possible Grant for FFP and lead the effort to apply for Grants (Grant writing experience a plus)
  • Continuously refresh local knowledge of the people, places and things in the surrounding Fair Park area
  • Create and implement a Membership Management strategy with goal of growing membership
  • Create and maintain relationships and knowledge of City of Dallas governance
  • Encourage organization members and community members to volunteer at events

Primary responsibilities on FFP committees and other possible community committees include but not limited to:

  • Business that requires gaining consensus and cooperation from Fair Park tenants.
  • Park planning and development.
  • Neighborhood liaison.
  • Fair Park site supervision of preservation work.
