“Read Around the World Day”

“One Community: No Violence” Event 
Saturday, July 13th; 10am – 2pm; MLK, Jr. Rec Center; 2901 Pennsylvania, 75215. Free. Dallas Police Department sponsors this rally that includes a job fair, free food, Mavs gamers, speakers, and 7-11 Slurpee truck. Chris Arnold, Mav’s game night announcer, is Emcee. Information Session: Hospitality Industry Training 
Tuesday, July 16, 2019; 10am; CitySquare; 1610 Malcolm X, Bldg 100; 75226. Free. Workshop: Car Loan Tips 
Tuesday, July 16, 2019; 6:30pm – 8pm; T R Hoover CDC, 5106 Bexar, 75215. Free. Having reliable transportation is crucial to good quality of life; but getting a loan for a car can be a daunting task. Learn the steps for qualifying for a car loan and selecting the right vehicle for your needs. On the Road Lending, a non-profit, will conduct the class and help identify the right vehicle. Apply

ORIENTATION: Low Voltage System Installations 
Wed, July 17th; 9:30am – 12noon; Frazier House, 4600 Spring, 75210. Earn a weekly stipend while participating in FREE job training to install theaters, internet services, satellite dishes, and more in a 4-week training course. Carter’s House: Back to School Clothing Fair 
Register by: Friday, July 19th. Event: Saturday, August 10th; 8am – 5pm; Park South YMCA; 2500 Romine, 75215. Free. If your family needs school clothes, Carter’s House, a South Dallas-based non-profit, will provide up to 4 outfits and 3 school uniforms per child. Clothes also provided for pre-school kids. Dolphin Heights Neighborhood/Crimewatch Meeting

Solar Installation Training 
Apply NOW! Classes begin July 22 – 27, 2019; 9am – 5pm; Eastfield College, Bldg T, 3737 Motley, Mesquite, 75150. Free. Eastfield and Green Careers Dallas provide entry-level training for solar panel installation leading to full-time jobs in a fast-growing field.
