Fair Park Fourth

A grand way to salute America's independence!

Celebrate your love for America with a day of family fun and fireworks at Fair Park Fourth, Wednesday, July 4, 2018.

Free and open to the public, Fair Park Fourth will feature patriotic performances, musical entertainment, concession stands, and a spectacular firework show at approximately 9:37 p.m. The event is brought to you by The City of Dallas, Friends of Fair Park, State Fair of Texas, and WFAA-TV Channel 8.

Enjoy the Midway this Fourth of July
The State Fair of Texas Midway--featuring several rides, games, and concession stands—will open at noon. You can purchase Midway admission tickets at the entrance gates for $8, or at for $5 (the cost of rides, games, and concessions will vary).

During this Fair Park Fourth event, all proceeds from the Midway will go to the State Fair of Texas Scholarship Program.

Have fun and stay cool
At 3 p.m., other (FREE) attractions will open throughout the Fair Park grounds. They include water inflatables, games, a zipline on the Esplanade, rides, face painters and more!

Concession stands will be ready to serve you at noon in Cotton Bowl Plaza. Guests will also be able to rent Swan Boats on the Leonhardt Lagoon beginning at noon.

Fair Park Fourth comes alive at night!
Starting at 6 p.m. guests should head to the lagoon for live entertainment. The National Anthem will play at approximately 6:45 p.m. and there will be performances from the nation’s premier civilian wind band (The Dallas Winds) at 7 p.m. and from country singer Imaj at 8 p.m.

Then, beginning at 9:37 p.m., guests can view the Fair Park Fourth fireworks show, produced by Pyrotecnico and sponsored by Oncor. Viewing is available from inside Cotton Bowl Stadium, along the State Fair of Texas Midway, or at various other locations throughout the Fair Park grounds.

Where to park and where to come in
Public parking is $10 per car at Fair Park Gates 5 and 6.

Two entrances to the State Fair of Texas Midway will be located:

  • near the Children’s Aquarium
  • close to Fair Park Coliseum

Gate A to the Cotton Bowl will open at 5 p.m.

Gates B, D, and M will open closer to the start of the fireworks show.

What You Can Bring Inside / What You Can’t

  • Coolers, Blankets and Folding Chairs – Allowed on the Fair Park grounds BUT NOT ON THE MIDWAY (Note: For your safety, these items may be inspected by security before being allowed into Fair Park).

  • Dogs – Allowed on the Fair Park grounds. BUT ONLY SERVICE ASSISTANCE DOGS ARE ALLOWED IN THE COTTON BOWL. All dogs must be on a leash, and owners must pick up after their dogs. (Note: Due to the fireworks show at the end of the evening, we recommend dogs not be in the park at that time).

  • Strollers – Allowed on the Fair Park grounds and the Midway, BUT NOT IN THE COTTON BOWL.

  • Wheelchairs / Motorized Wheelchairs – Allowed on the grounds and the Midway. Elevator access is available for wheelchair seating in the Cotton Bowl. (Note: Wheelchairs will NOT be available for rental during Fair Park Fourth).

  • NOT ALLOWED INTO FAIR PARK – Beer, alcoholic beverages, glass bottles, weapons (including firearms) and fireworks.

Unable to attend the celebration in person? For the seventh consecutive year, WFAA-TV will broadcast from historic Fair Park a one-hour, Texas-size salute to America’s birthday.
