Tulisoma Book Fair

The African American Museum hosts Tulisoma Book Fair 2019 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24. This year's literary fest will feature panels, talks, book signings, and more from prestigious authors from around the world.

This year's guest authors include Carole Boston Weatherford who has written many award-winning books for children, including Caldecott Honor winners "Freedom in Congo Square," "Voice of Freedom: Fannie Lou Hamer," and "Moses: When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom." Also featured will be author and journalist ReShonda Tate Billingsley whose novels include "Let the Church Say Amen," "I Know I’ve Been Changed," and "Say Amen, Again" -- winner of the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work.

The free book festival also features literary/art activities for children and seniors as well as insights on how to self publish your own book.

At the end of the book fair, from 4 p.m. – 6 p.m., attenders are invited out to the Museum lawn for a free Hip Hop Gospel Extravaganza.
