Medicine for Melancholy

The Texas Theatre and South Dallas Cultural Center are proud to present the 2nd annual Black Filmmaker Series in conjunction with Black History Month. On Saturday, Feb. 16, the series will screen "Medicine for Melancholy," a 2008 film directed by Barry Jenkins, at the African American Museum.

Jenkins' little-seen first feature, made eight years before his Oscar-winning "Moonlight," shows his immediate skill with the relationship melodrama and signaled a theme and skill that evolved and paved way towards his newest film, "If Beale Street Could Talk."
